Doorway chest stretch (hold)
Postureeasytimeddoorway
Standing in a doorway with the forearms on the frame and the elbows at shoulder height, the body moves forward through the door so the chest and the front of the shoulders stretch; it counters rounded shoulders.
How to do it
- Stand in a doorway with one foot a step ahead of the other. Place both forearms on the door frame, elbows bent 90 degrees and at shoulder height.
- Keep the body upright and the shoulder blades drawn back; don't let the shoulders roll forward.
- Shift the weight onto the front foot, bending the front knee, so the chest moves forward past the frame until you feel a gentle stretch across the chest; the forearms stay on the frame.
- Hold 30 seconds, breathing, step back and repeat 2-3 times. Lower the elbows a little if the shoulder pinches; stop if the arm tingles.
