Chest-to-wall handstand (hold)
Skillsintermediatetimedwall
Handstand facing the wall, entered by walking the feet up the wall and the hands in; hands are a few centimetres to one hand-length from the wall and only the toes/tops of the feet lightly touch it, body in one straight line with shoulders pushed up toward the ears.
How to do it
- Start in a push-up position with the feet against the base of the wall, facing away from it.
- Walk the feet up the wall while walking the hands back toward it until the hands are ~5-20 cm from the wall and the body is vertical, belly and chest facing the wall.
- Arms locked straight and fully overhead (shoulder flexion ~180), shoulders shrugged up, hands shoulder width, fingers spread.
- Body straight from wrists to toes: ribs in, glutes squeezed, legs together, toes pointed; only the toes/top of the feet touch the wall. Gaze at the floor between the hands.
- Hold, then walk the hands out and feet down to exit.
