Russian twist
Coreintermediaterepsfoot anchor (optional)
Seated with knees bent and feet on the floor, torso leaning back about 45 degrees with a straight back, hands together in front of the chest, the rib cage rotates to one side then the other while hips and legs stay still.
How to do it
- Sit on the floor, knees bent about 90 degrees, heels/feet flat on the floor.
- Lean the straight torso back to about 45 degrees so torso and thighs form a V; arms extended in front of the chest with hands clasped.
- Exhale and rotate the shoulders and rib cage to the right until the clasped hands are beside the right hip, arms roughly parallel to the floor; head turns with the chest.
- Return through the centre and rotate to the left the same amount.
- Buttocks and feet stay planted, knees do not sway; the lean angle stays constant.
