Sit-up

Coreeasyrepsfoot anchor (optional)

Lying on the back with knees bent about 90 degrees and feet flat and anchored, fingers interlaced behind the head, the whole trunk curls up off the floor until the chest approaches the thighs (a V with the thighs), then lowers back under control.

How to do it

  1. Lie on your back on the floor, knees bent about 90 degrees, feet flat and hip-width apart, hooked under a fixed object or held by a partner.
  2. Interlace the fingers behind the head, elbows pointing out to the sides; the hands support the head but do not pull it.
  3. Exhale and curl the head, shoulders, then the whole back off the floor; the hips bend until the torso leans back only about 20-30 degrees from vertical, chest toward the thighs.
  4. Feet and buttocks stay on the floor the whole time; knees keep the same bend.
  5. Inhale and roll back down slowly until the shoulder blades and head touch the floor again.
