Wall angel
Postureeasyrepswall
Standing with the back, head and arms against a wall, the arms slide from a 'W' up to a 'Y' and back down while the elbows and wrists stay on the wall: it opens the chest and trains the muscles that set the shoulder blades back and down.
How to do it
- Stand with your back to a wall, feet 10-15 cm in front of it, knees soft; head, upper back and buttocks touch the wall, with a small natural curve in the low back.
- Raise the arms into a 'W' (goalpost): upper arms out at shoulder height, elbows bent 90 degrees, backs of the elbows, forearms and wrists against the wall.
- Slowly slide the arms up the wall toward a 'Y' overhead, only as far as everything stays in contact.
- Pull the elbows back down past the 'W' toward your sides, drawing the shoulder blades down. 10 slow reps; don't arch the low back or poke the head forward.
