Slow front kick
Mobilityintermediaterepsno equipment
Controlled martial-arts front kick done slowly for strength and balance: from a guard stance the kicking knee is drawn up to the chest (chamber), the lower leg extends forward until the leg is straight at about hip height, then folds back to the chamber and the foot returns to the floor; the standing foot stays flat.
How to do it
- Guard stance: feet hip width, one foot slightly behind, knees soft, fists up by the chin.
- Chamber: lift the back leg's knee up toward the chest (thigh above horizontal), knee fully bent, foot pulled under, toes pulled back; standing knee stays slightly bent.
- Extend: slowly straighten the knee pushing the foot forward to about hip height, striking with the ball of the foot (ankle extended, toes pulled back); hips push forward slightly.
- Retract along the same path back to the chamber, then set the foot down to the guard stance.
- Torso stays tall (slight lean back only); standing foot never lifts.
