Short foot
Postureeasyrepschair
Sitting with the foot flat, the arch muscles draw the ball of the big toe toward the heel so the foot 'shortens' and the arch lifts into a dome, while the toes stay long and relaxed on the floor; it strengthens the small muscles of the foot in flexible flat feet.
How to do it
- Sit tall on a chair, feet flat on the floor, hands on the thighs.
- Without curling the toes, slide the ball of the big toe toward the heel: the arch rises into a dome and the foot looks shorter. Heel and ball of the foot stay on the floor.
- Hold 5 seconds, then relax. 10 reps per foot, 2-3 times a day.
- When it is easy, do it standing, then on one leg. Mild cramping is normal at first; persistent foot pain needs a podiatrist or physiotherapist.
