Supine chest-opening backbend (straight-leg version): legs straight on the floor, forearms and elbows pressing the floor beside the torso lift the chest into an arch, and the crown of the head rests lightly on the floor bearing almost no weight.
How to do it
- Lie on the back, legs straight and together, thighs firm, toes pointed or feet flexed.
- Slide the hands palms down under the buttocks; forearms and elbows close to the sides of the torso.
- Press the forearms and elbows down to lift the chest and arch the upper back; shoulder blades draw together.
- Tilt the head back and rest the crown lightly on the floor (weight stays in the forearms); gaze back/up behind you.
