Parivrtta Trikonasana
Yogaintermediatetimedno equipment
Wide straight-legged stance with the hips squared to the front leg; the torso hinges forward to about horizontal and rotates toward the front leg, the opposite hand goes flat to the floor just outside the front foot (little-toe side, fingers in line with the toes) and the other arm points straight up, gaze to the top hand.
How to do it
- Stand with the feet about one leg-length apart; turn the right foot out 90 degrees and the left foot in about 45-60 degrees; both feet flat.
- Square the hips and chest toward the right (front) leg; both legs straight.
- Exhale, hinge forward from the hips with a long spine and place the left hand flat on the floor on the outside (little-toe side) of the right foot, level with the foot, fingers in line with the toes (or inside / on a block).
- Rotate the chest to the right and extend the right arm straight up so both arms form one vertical line over the shoulders.
- Turn the head and look up at the right hand. Hold, then repeat on the other side.
