Headstand (hold)
Salamba Sirsasana
Yogahardtimedno equipment
A supported inversion on a forearm tripod: forearms on the floor with fingers interlaced cupping the back of the head, the crown on the floor, and the body straight and vertical above.
How to do it
- Kneel, interlace the fingers and place the forearms on the floor with the elbows about shoulder-width apart, forming a triangle.
- Put the crown of the head on the floor, the back of the head cupped by the clasped hands (palms not under the head).
- Straighten the knees and walk the feet toward the face until the hips are above the shoulders, back vertical.
- Lift the legs (bent or straight and together) off the floor using the core, then extend them straight up.
- Hold with the body vertical, legs together, feet pointed; press down through the forearms so the shoulders lift and most weight is on the arms; gaze to the nose.
